Knowing which call to wake up for is the whole job.
An answering service takes a message and flags it urgent because the caller sounded urgent. AlwaysGreet decides using rules you wrote for your own business, then prices and routes the call differently based on the answer.
How it works
What actually happens
01
Rules you write, in plain language
Your triage rules are a paragraph of English, not a decision tree. A locksmith's says anyone locked out right now is an emergency and scheduled rekeys are not. Yours says whatever you need it to.
02
It asks the question that changes the answer
An HVAC call asks whether anyone vulnerable is in the house. An auto shop asks year, make, and model. Those aren't small talk — they're what turns a queue into a dispatch order.
03
Urgency doesn't have to mean danger
For a salon or a moving company there are no emergencies, so urgent means a deadline that books elsewhere if this call doesn't catch it — a wedding Saturday, a closing Thursday. Same routing, different trigger.
04
The verdict follows the call everywhere
Whether a call was an emergency decides the priority on your text, the price band quoted, and what the call log counts as recovered revenue. It isn't a label, it's a decision the rest of the system reads.
In practice
What it looks like on a call
Caller
Our AC has packed in and it's 108 out.
AlwaysGreet
That's rough. Is anyone in the house who struggles with heat — elderly, young children, anyone unwell?
Caller
My mother's here, she's 84.
- Classified EMERGENCY · vulnerable occupant · priority flag on owner SMS
The same words with nobody vulnerable in the house would still be an emergency at 108°F — but it would sit behind this one.
Being straight with you
What this doesn't do
Every limit below is one you'd otherwise discover after paying.
It won't diagnose the fault
It classifies urgency, not cause. It won't tell a caller their compressor has failed or their brakes are unsafe — it captures symptoms and gets you there.
Genuine danger goes to 911 first
Gas smells, fire, downed lines, a child locked in a hot car — the templates tell callers to hang up and call emergency services before taking a booking. That's not something we'd advise editing out.

Questions
The things owners actually ask
How do I change what counts as an emergency?
Edit the triage rules on your playbook page. It's a text field — write it the way you'd explain it to a new hire, and the agent follows it from the next call onward.
What if it gets a call wrong?
Every call lands in your log with the classification and the reason attached, so you can see what it decided and why. If a pattern is wrong, the fix is usually one sentence in your triage rules.
Will it sound like a robot?
No — it's a natural voice that interrupts and responds like a person, not a phone tree. But judge that yourself rather than taking our word: run the demo and listen to a real call before paying anything.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. Your number stays exactly as it is on your listings, your signage, and your website. You forward calls to AlwaysGreet — either everything you don't pick up, or only outside opening hours. Turning it off puts everything back as it was.
Can it answer only after hours?
Yes, and most businesses start there. Turn on after-hours-only and the AI stays silent while you're open — you take those calls yourself. It picks up nights, weekends, and holidays.
What stops spam calls burning through my minutes?
A per-caller hourly limit, automatic flagging of repeat short-call bursts, and a daily spend cap that pauses the line if something goes wrong. These run before a call is answered, so a robodialer can't run up your bill.
